With courage, common sense, and perseverance, ‘the sky’s the limit’. This is the mindset of the brothers Marcel, Martijn, and Stefan Hooft. In 2011, at the age of 21, Martijn started selling smartphone cases from his attic. Thanks to its success, his brother Stefan soon joined to handle logistics. Not long after, Marcel joined them, and they launched their online webshop.
During our visit to Smartphonehoesjes.nl, we spoke with various employees, including Lisa Reemst, HR Assistant. Lisa explains, “We started with just phone cases, but the range quickly expanded. Nowadays, we sell not only cases but also everything that makes using your mobile devices such as phones, tablets, laptops, and smartwatches much easier. Think chargers, cables, power banks, and sleeves – we have it all.”
Smartphonehoesjes.nl has since traded the attic for a large office building with an adjacent warehouse and distribution center in Leusden. With more than 23,000 different products, the company is now one of the market leaders in the Netherlands. But the market for smartphone accessories knows no borders; they are now conquering Belgium, Germany, and France.
“We outgrew our last office, it just didn’t fit anymore. In fact, if we keep growing like this, we’ll soon outgrow this space too.”
Clocking in with ease
An employee takes a Dyflexis card out of his pocket. The card looks well-used. “Why is that?” one of our Dyflexis colleagues asks curiously. “We’ve been using Dyflexis since 2013 and these cards are still working fine,” the employee answers with a smile.
“Employees enter through the entrance and clock in with their card,” Lisa explains.
Through the app, they can check their schedule and see if they need to be at Inbound or Outbound. This way, they know exactly where to go. Whether it’s a tag or a public transport card, clocking in is always possible. Planning brings clarity
Smartphonehoesjes.nl used to use an Excel sheet alongside the Dyflexis system to keep track of expected orders. That’s now a thing of the past. By uploading the Excel files into Dyflexis, the system automatically shows how much workload is needed compared to the expected orders. It even takes the Working Hours Act into account and provides a warning when necessary. This ensures structure and clarity.

This saves a lot of time for payroll administrators. “We also add office employees with flexible contracts to Dyflexis to make the processes even more efficient.” What adds extra automation?
